BARRHEAD YOUTH FOOTBALL CLUB

ABOUT US

Barrhead Youth Football Club (formally - Barrhead Boys Club) was Established in 1972 , has grown steadily to the position of one of the largest youth football clubs in the West of Scotland.  The club is affiliated with The Scottish Youth Football Association (SYFA) who are part of The Scottish Football Association (SFA). In recent years the club have been recognized for our development of children into football

In 2008 the club was recognised by The SFA (Socttish Football Association) by achieving 'The Quality Mark Award' We are continually working closely with the SFA towards achieving the Development Club Award and indeed ultimately the Community Club Award. Also in 2008 the club emabarked upon working with the Positive Coaching Scotland Initiative through their trial local authority of East Renfrewshire. Carrying out coach and parent workshops has enabled the kids to benefit greatly. The focus of this workshop was on how we could become better coaches, better parents and subsequently better role models for our children and community through our actions and behavior when we are with the kids. We have been one of the first clubs in Scotland to be involved with this and already it's having a positive effect upon our club. Positive Coaching Scotland's website can be seen at http://www.positivecoachingscotland.com

In 2009 saw the name change to Barrhead Youth Football Club is a registered as a Scottish Charity ( Charity No SC040946 ) and a nonprofit making organization where moneys are raised mostly (And appreciatively) through parents donations, plus fund raising events and sponsorship, all money raised is ploughed straight back into the running of team for the benefit of the kids.  The Club has 12 age groups, consisting of 23 teams from under 7's through to Amateurs supported by competing in various different leagues throughout the West of Scotland region (Namely - Paisley Johnstone and District, East Renfrewshire, and Glasgow Leagues).  The club is well respected, successful and currently have approximately 600 children (boys & girls), youth members who are supported by over 80 coaches, as well as having in excess of 70 adult committee members, all of whom give up their time free of charge.   In previous year's the club featured on Sky Sport News where as a full club we were invited to a training event for both the coaches and kids held by the SFA/SYFA at the National Teams training facilities.

The YM are the amateur team of the Barrhead Youth Club

The YM`s name originally dates back to the church leagues of the 1920`s and after a 6 year absence was resurrected in July 2010 by former YM players Graham Marklow, David Morrison and David Baird.  The club joined the GGPL (Greater Glasgow Premier League) in 2010 and after a successful 1st season gained promotion to Division 2.

Season 2011/12 saw the YM compete at a higher level and finished a credible 5th in only their second season. The YM`s went into their third season minus manger Marklow and coach Baird who were seconded to the club`s Under 15`s and the reign`s were left with Davy Mo and Cammy and the YM got off to a flying start by winning thier first 7 league game, however suspensions and injuries took its toll and in the end the YM narrowly missed out on promotion and finished fourth.

Season 2013/4 seen the introduction of a new manager in the form of ex Celtic Youth & Weirs Rec coach Robert `Hammy` Hamilton, with Morrison and Cameron taking up executive positions on the board. However the club`s number one objective still remains - Promotion.
